POC On Tour

After successfully premiering Relentless Unstoppable Human Machine at the Roundhouse CircusFest earlier this year, Pirates of the Carabina (POC) have been reworking and retitling the production as HOME for Brighton’s Christmas run, with a special preview showing at the Riverfront in Newport on October 15th.

Exhilarating and enchanting, with an animated set and absorbing live score, HOME delves into the fantastical lives of two fated neighbours who, in the course of a day’s misadventures, discover surprising new connections with each other and the world outside.
Featuring vertical-swinging trapeze, never-ending ropes, a spinning carousel, and a very temperamental staircase, HOME is a playful, poignant tale about the joys we find around us if we only take a second look. A perfectly heart-warming show to enjoy with your nearest and dearest.

In mind of touring the show as far and wide as possible, HOME is a little more ‘bijou’ than its predecessor, but retains all of the impressive mechanical contraptions, animated set and stunning aerial choreography that makes it inherently POC!

Developed in association with Roundhouse (London). With support from Pontio (Bangor), Ffwrnes (Llanelli), Riverfront Newport, and funded by Arts Council England and Arts Council of Wales.

Brighton Dome. Saturday 15 – Sunday 23 December. Box Office.

Preview performance at The Riverfront, Newport  – 18 October, 7.30pm. Box Office

Following a very busy Spring developing and premiering our new show, we were thrilled to have again been selected by Spotlight UK Circus to perform FLOWN at Avignon le Off alongside four other British circus companies. Thanks to No Fit State and Crying Out Loud for a great festival! FLOWN was really well received by the festival and international promoters, and as a result we’re hoping to head back to Europe for some dates in 2019/20. Keep an eye out!

Closer to home, we spent the summer around and about our local area, including flying the entire school at Kingsbury Episcopi Primary School in Martock. Thanks to the wonderful staff there and the more than 160 children who took to the skies and were FLOWN!.

We have also been working with Take Art in Somerset to deliver a series of science-based circus workshops as part of their Inspired programme for local schools; and will soon be teaching aerial workshops as part of a week of family activity at David Hall in South Petherton, as part of the Action Track Creative Lab project REACH OUT.
